Impairment & overdose
Alcohol impairs coordination and judgment. Severe poisoning suppresses functions needed for breathing and temperature control. Blood alcohol may continue rising after drinking stops.

Do not leave someone to sleep it off
Confusion, vomiting, seizures or trouble staying conscious can signal overdose. An unconscious person may choke. Coffee, walking and cold showers do not reverse poisoning.

Long-term health & withdrawal
Heavy long-term drinking can contribute to liver disease, heart problems and other serious illness. After prolonged heavy drinking, withdrawal can be dangerous. Seek medical help to plan stopping and manage symptoms.
