What it is

Acute & repeated-use risks

Blood pressure and heart rate can change. Respiratory depression is possible. Chronic misuse is associated with bladder and urinary symptoms, including pain and frequent urination.

Depressant combinations

Ketamine with alcohol, benzodiazepines or opioid medicines can cause profound sedation, suppressed breathing, coma and death.

Awareness & injury

Disconnection from surroundings may make noticing danger or communicating symptoms harder. Summon medical help when someone is difficult to rouse.

Inability to wake or abnormal breathing requires 911. Do not assume deep sedation is a harmless part of the experience.
